West Coast Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Victoria offers realistic martial art training to people of all ages and skill levels. We are a proud affiliate club member of the West Coast Martial Arts association and hold ourselves to a high level of conduct on, and off the mats.
We take pride in offering legitimate martial art classes that are designed to allow students to learn quickly and efficiently. BJJ is a great way to build self-confidence, meet new people, learn effective self-defense moves and get in great shape! John Kutz started WCBJJV in 2017 under the guidance of Professor Don whitefield. The experiences and lessons gained from training BJJ under Don have been invaluable to John, and he hopes he can spread the joy he has felt from training to as many people as possible.

John Kutz has been training in Jiu-Jitsu for more than seven years earning the rank of 4 stripe purple belt.
His passion for the sport got him into teaching and he has now been coaching for three years. His love for everything martial arts has seen him train and compete in amateur boxing, kickboxing, MMA, and of course, grappling tournaments.
John doesn’t simply teach mechanics, but imparts his determination, dedication, and skill on his students so that they are inspired to achieve everything they want to inside and out of the gym. He believes that everyone can benefit from the empowerment, the philosophy and discipline of martial arts.
John is an incredibly supportive coach and role model, especially for those just starting out! Me and jiu jitsu was not love at first sight, and I don’t think I would have developed a love for BJJ had it not been for John’s patience, kindness and excellent instruction!
Learning BJJ with John Kutz is amazing. Such a friendly and professional instructor. He makes sure you get the movements right and encourages you throughout the whole class. This was my first time doing jiu-jitsu and he made it a great experience for me! Totally recommend!
More than an excellent school and instruction, the more you train, the more you end up loving jiu jitsu. Has turned into a family…more than a human can ask for.
Been learning so much at West coast Bjj. Great opportunity to learn about the art of grappling. Good sized classes, really good atmosphere and a Great instructor !!
John was my first BJJ coach and I don’t think anything speaks to his kind, supportive teaching style more than me being desperate to continue the sport once I returned to Toronto. He always made sure I understood everything being taught and was so reassuring during practice, it definitely left a lasting impact!
Great atmosphere, and wonderful team to train with. John is an amazing instructor, with a great attitude. I highly recommend to anyone interested!
